Collection: Biomedics

Biomedics is a family of contact lenses from CooperVision available with both daily and monthly replacement schedules. The range includes spherical lenses for short-sightedness and long-sightedness, together with toric lenses for astigmatism. Biomedics lenses use Ocufilcon D hydrogel material, while the optical design and replacement schedule vary between the individual products.

Biomedics contact lenses for different vision needs

The Biomedics range includes both spherical and toric contact lenses. Biomedics 1 Day Extra is a daily disposable lens for spherical prescriptions, while Biomedics 55 Evolution is a reusable monthly spherical lens. For astigmatism, Biomedics 1 Day Extra Toric provides a daily disposable option and Biomedics Toric provides a reusable monthly option.

If you have astigmatism, you can also explore our toric contact lenses to compare other available lens options.

Biomedics material and lens designs

Biomedics lenses in this range are made from Ocufilcon D hydrogel material. The individual products use different optical designs depending on their intended vision correction and replacement schedule.

Biomedics 1 Day Extra uses a tri-curve lens design, while the toric versions use designs intended to provide stable astigmatism correction. Biomedics 55 Evolution uses an Aberration Neutralising System™ within its spherical optical design. Product specifications should therefore be checked for the individual lens rather than assumed to apply across the entire Biomedics range.

Daily and monthly Biomedics contact lenses

Biomedics 1 Day Extra and Biomedics 1 Day Extra Toric are daily disposable contact lenses. They are designed for single-day use and should be discarded after removal, so they do not require cleaning or overnight storage.

Biomedics 55 Evolution and Biomedics Toric are reusable lenses with a monthly replacement schedule. They are designed for daily wear and should be removed before sleep, then cleaned, disinfected and stored according to the instructions for the specific lens and care product. You can explore our monthly contact lenses and our contact lens solutions for reusable lens care.

Choosing and reordering Biomedics contact lenses

When reordering Biomedics contact lenses, use the same lens model and prescription parameters recommended for you by your optician or eye care professional. Depending on the lens type, these parameters can include power, base curve, diameter, cylinder and axis.

Our guide to contact lens parameters explains the most common values used when ordering contact lenses online. Matching prescription values alone does not necessarily mean that one Biomedics lens can be substituted for another, as optical design, fit and replacement schedule vary between products.
